Wait, my Blog still exists?

Yes, yes it does.

I came back from Ireland over a month ago. I have been so busy with work that I haven't had any chance to update my Blog and lead a life as a blogger. I work at a day camp from 8-5 Monday through Friday and I am in love with my job. Working with kids, hanging out with some of the coolest people, and getting paid to do so? Who could ask for anything better? Not me. I grew up at Resident (that's overnight camp) Camp for Ten years and now I get to be those superheroes that I had looked up to! There are two reasons I have come back from the Internet drought. One, I've been getting twitter followers even though I barely post (thank you thank you thank you!) Two, launching this week are two of my greatest passions. Shark Week and The Uniform Project Year 2. Most of you I am hoping know what Shark Week is but The Uniform Project I don't expect you to know.

The Uniform Project was started by Sheena Matheiken a year ago when she realized in her job in advertising wasn't fulfilling. So using her love of fashion as her medium she made a dress, a simple frocked dress to wear for one year. Not buying any new clothing only reused, vintage, and donated clothing. And accepting monetary donations towards the Akanksha Foundation a non-profit for Indian children living in the slums. With a goal and dedicated followers she raised over $100,000 for the foundation.

This year she's trying something different. Well first she has her dress and dress pattern released for people to buy copies of her dress (Donating 10% to the Akanksha Foundation). And second she has her site hosted for twelve undaunted ladies to create their own project for one month for a charity of their choice.

The first of which is a lady by the name of India raising money for a school in the ninth ward in New Orleans. In addition to making monetary donations to the site you can also buy a limited run of each person's dress also money going to their choice. If you haven't checked out the site do so it is at The Uniform Project and donate to these worthy causes.

The real reason I'm posting other than to spread the word is to also ponder to the vastness of the Internet. Should I try this myself? Perhaps not to raise money but as a personal challenge. I've tried novel writing in a month (Four times and three times a winner), writing blogs, and even writing a new short story a day! ( that didn't work out too terribly well). Perhaps this challenge I may take up...eventually. I plan on updating more often. I miss the Internet.

Dear Emerald Isle

I'm leaving today for Ireland! So, updates will be more sporadic than usual. Working on a new concept idea for a NaNo or perhaps for a normal book. Will see.

G'bye!

Fanning Slowly

So, due to my mistakes as a youngin I kept my laptop on my lap. Not heeding the warnings of my brother about that the fan could over heat. So what happens? Fan breaks and I am out of a computer for two weeks. Yes though I do have an itouch I do not like the format for typing on it for blogging. So what's happened. Well I'm not sure if you have heard about this whole oil spill thing. That's not going so well.
On a Personal note I finally performed my dance solo. It went really well and I enjoyed every minute of it. (If you're wondering I danced to a mix between Nancy Sinatra's "You Only Live Twice" and Madonna's "Die Another Day"). I'm going to miss dancing at that school but I know these next years have their own plans ahead. I just don't know what they are yet.
On the Reading Front Currently reading The Mysterious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I'm enjoying it so far and I'm trying to get used to the reading on the itouch. It allows me to read when my classes get boring but the light often hurts my eyes. Only a few more days until I leave for Ireland.

I forgot to mention that didn't I?

I'm going to Ireland.

Collage

Nope, I didn't spell college wrong. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I did. I love to make collages. I guess because they bring even the most abstract things together at times to make things that appear to make sense. Also it's the combination of elements. From old books, encyclopedias, and online photos to makes something new. I'm working on a book for a class and it has two collages so far, and probably more later. Perhaps I will post them, probably not.

On the note of news, or odd and interesting facts. Top Kill operation of the Gulf coast hasn't been working so they are going to try something else. On the actual interesting news apparently Kevin Costner owns centrifuges that separate oil from water, he had helped design during his time on the movie Waterworld, you know if he hadn't focused on that side project perhaps the movie would have been much better. But now if he takes those down to the gulf coast he perhaps will become the equivalent of what Bono is for AIDS to Oil Spills. I don't know what's going to happen next, but I hope some more prevention will happen before another major disaster. But I will continue to make my Collages thank you very much.

Observing Blankness

So, it's been a while. Since the last time I've posted I've had Disney, closed a show, took exams, had Prom, performed in BC/EFA (Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS), and overall craziness. I've moved over to Wordpress to do a writing blog where I am attempting to write one story for everyday in the month of May. I know. Pretty insane. I have about ten or eleven. Not bad for a full time student with a bunch of extracurriculars. Today began more Dress Rehearsals, so I'm pretty exhausted. I'm currently working on a paper and presentation on the influence on the news media. I know this little blog doesn't do much really except sit around and collect dust but it does do one thing. Allow myself to get a perspective out to the world that no one else has ever seen before. Mine. I'll be back soon.

Strike! out...

Still on strike until at least tommorow...My AP exams are surely going to suffer. However this has given me a nice extension on my Critical Paper, so I guess I take what I can get. AP Exams are in one week! I'm stressing! Show is on Wedensday! Still Stressing!

This is what I like to call Hell Week and I'd like to personally welcome you!

Vacation to another Vacation

Disney was amazing! I had a blast with some of my closest friends and even though I may be having a bit of trouble with one of them, I still had a blast of a time. Whether it was going on Tower of Terror twice or going down Summit Plummet (even though I am scared of heights) or watching my friend be scarred for life in his first ride of It's a Small World I had a great time. But then I come back and what do I get? Another Vacation? Not Quite. My School is currently on strike. This is the second day off. I have AP Exams in two weeks and a show in less than that. I am freaking out! Oh and a Critical Paper...I should perhaps get back to that.

By the way can anyone define a "spiritual bottoming out?" Thanks! Back to work...
